Greyhack RPG
A downloadable game
Greyhack is an OSR system based on a marriage between White Box adventure gaming hacks and games like the Black Sword Hack, with some further elements added for flavour. The project came to be by a need to fix a great number of minor issues I've had with the parent systems, that hadn't been fixed after successive editions. Obviously, some of those had to be homebrewed, but given the number of nitpicks I've been having with what seemed to be almost the perfect RPG for my tastes, I decided I might as well rewrite it.
Greyhack distinguishes itself from its predecessors by the introduction of the Usage Die into its ecosystem. This single mechanic, along with the introduction of difficulty thresholds, introduces an element of risk and unpredictability, while opening up character abilities giving the players much wider rein over what their characters can do without breaking the game. Character classes have been streamlined significantly, reducing the number of arbitrary rules they need to remember.
Lastly, some measures have been taken to add some more flavour to the game. Greyhack embraces the use of public domain art enthusiastically, to create a classic, old-school feel. At a later stage, if the project takes off, I might start looking for original art to commission (I might contribute some myself, since I also produce art). The project is intended to use a completely open license.
The player-facing section of the core rulebook is now more or less complete, barring some potential revisions, and is just about ready to be playtested. If you'd like to join the effort, feel free to check out our discord server at: https://discord.gg/FycfUKFW.

Sounds great! There isn't a download now link :(
I'm sorry, I've been to hasty uploading it. I'm currently reworking it and it will be up again, soon. In the meantime feel free to join the discord and I can share any drafts I have in private. :)
